DR Congo defeated Mali 3-0 to claim their second African Nations Championships title in a one-sided final at Kigali’s Amahoro National Stadium on Sunday.
A brace from Meshack Elia and a further goal by Jonathan Bolingi was enough for the Congolese to claim a deserved victory in the Kigali final.
Elia put them ahead in the 29th minute when a fired a ferocious shot past the Malian goalkeeper.
Elia doubled the lead in the 62nd minute for his fourth goal of the tournament.
Any hope of a comeback for Mali was finally extinguished when Bolingi added a third for the Leopards in the 73rd minute to cap a fantastic display from the new champions.
