Both star together in a new movie Central intelligence.
The rock said "it's an honor to be hosting the MTV awards with a guy who's not only one of the funniest guys on the planet, but often mistaken as my twin, Kevin Hart, we live for our fans and promise to make this an epic, historic unforgettable night for them".
The full list of nominees will be announced in coming weeks, the award show will be held at the Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California.
