Manchester United considering selling Wayne Rooney by summer

Man united and England player Wayne Rooney could leave his club, after nearly 12 years to move to China in the summer.

The club is open to selling the striker to a Chinese Super League club in the summer - but only if they make a a deal to sign.

United have received an offer from a Chinese club for their 30-year-old captain, who is sidelined for six weeks with a knee injury.

Rooney, who is 30 years could earn at least £500,000-a-week with the Chinese club. He remains the most marketable player at the club due to his longevity and success at Old Trafford, as well as with the England national side.

Executive vice chairman of United Ed Woodward, has made unsuccessful attempts to sign Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar since he replaced David Gill in 2013.

Last week, Woodward acknowledged the Chinese Super League could benefit United in the transfer market.

"So far, this is the biggest window in preparation for the next season, so I do think there'll be more activity in the summer, but it's very, very difficult to predict the impact that will have,"
