Tayo Fabiyi gave hosts Nasarawa an early lead at the Abuja National Stadium, before the visitors drew level.
Nasarawa waited until the dying moments of the match to grab the winner. Seun Sogbesan scored the winner after a Generation Foot player handled the ball inside his box off a free kick taken by skipper Emmanuel Makama.
The return leg match will be played in Senegal in a fortnight.
