Suicide bombers kill 10 in Iraq

At least 10 people have been killed after three suicide bombers targeted Itaqi forces in the Baghdad area on Monday.

Security and medical officials also said that at least 45 were left wounded.

The morning attacks also wounded at least 45 people, the sources said.

One bomber targeted a joint police and army checkpoint in north Baghdad, while pro-government paramilitaries were struck by two others in Mishahada, north of the capital, and in a restaurant in Nasiriyah in southern Iraq.

The Islamic State jihadist group are believed to be responsible for the attacks although the no one has claimed responsibility. The group frequently carries out suicide bombings in Iraq targeting civilians and security forces.

IS overran large areas north and west of Baghdad in 2014, but Iraqi forces have since regained significant ground with the assistance of US-led air strikes and training.
