Etoile 3-0 Enyimba (AGG 3-3; Pen: 3-4): Afelokhai's heroics sends the People's Elephant to Group stage

Former African Champion Enyimba needed the heroics of goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai to book their place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Nigerian side had taken a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg at home over Etoile du Sahel. The Tunisian broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute through a superb free kick from Lahmar after Dare Ojo was penalized for a foul.

The Red Devils increased the pressure and deservedly grabbed a second after a fine header from Acosta.

The comeback was complete with 20 minutes to the end of the second half after another fine Acosta finish.

The host smelled blood and went in search for a winner but Theophilus Afelokhai kept them at bay.

Enyimba could have won it late on but Christian Pyagbara fired wide after coming one on one with goalkeeper Mathlouthi.

It was 3-3 aggregate at full time at the Stade Olympique de Sousse. Theophilus Afelokhai then saved three consecutive penalties from 12 yards to earn Enyimba a crucial 7-6 aggregate win over hosts, Etoile du Sahel, thereby sending the two-time African Champions to the lucrative group stage of the competition.
