Senate drops CCT act amendment

The Senate on Wednesday has decided not to carry on the process of the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau/Tribunal Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

The decision was reached after the Senate concluded a closed door session, which ran for more than two hours on Wednesday.

The plenary was presided over by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu. The senate also called off the summon issued to the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar.

The senators however said they will continue to support the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, throughout the duration of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
