Judge: Cosby will face sexual assault charges

Bill Cosby will face sexual assault charges

A judge in Pennsylvania has said that prosecutors can pursue criminal sexual assault charges against Bill Cosby. The comedian's attorneys had tried to get the court to dismiss the case.
Cosby’s attorneys had sought to dismiss the case on the grounds that he made a deal with a previous district attorney that he would not be prosecuted in connection with Andrea Constand’s allegations of sexual assault in 2004. Cosby’s attorneys claimed then-District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. agreed that Cosby would never be prosecuted, and he would then give a deposition in her civil case.
Judge Steven O’Neill issued the ruling after a two-day hearing. The judge also rejected the defence’s effort to have the current Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele removed from the case.
Cosby has denied the allegations of sexual assault levelled against him. Cosby faces three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault. He is charged with drugging and then sexually abusing Constand, who was an employee of Temple University.

Bill Cosby's medal of freedom maybe stripped

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor, established in 1963. A new bill would give President Obama the power to strip embattled comedian Bill Cosby of his Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Bill Cosby, an American icon as comedian, actor and father figure since the 1960s, has fallen from favor since 2002, when President George W. Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his cultural contributions.

Cosby, who is 78, is currently charged with second-degree sexual assault, stemming from a relationship with a Temple University employee in 2004. If convicted of the felony, Cosby could face up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

He pleaded not guilty to all allegation and charges. President Obama has said he was powerless to act if he decided to do something.
