The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cleared
Guinea to host matches within its territory. This followed the announcement by
the World Health Organization on December 29 that Guinea was now Ebola-free.
This was communicated to the Guinean Football Federation in
a letter signed by the CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani. The letter, which
was address to the President of the Federation Salifou Camara, stated the ban
which prevented the country from hosting matches due to the outbreak of Ebola
had been lifted.
“CAF has learned with joy and relief the announcement by the
World Health Organisation on December 29, officially confirming that Guinea is
now declared Ebola free.
“CAF hereby confirms lifting the ban on the organisation ogf
continental matches in Guinea, and for all competitions organised by CAF,” the
letter said.
Guinea were banned from hosting CAF competitions since
August 2014.
