CHAN 2016: Guinea defeat Nigeria as the Eagles are eliminated

Nigeria’s good start at the ongoing African Nation Championship became inconsequential as they were eliminated by Guinea in the final group game in Rwanda.

Sunday Oliseh’s decision to drop his top scorer Chisom Chikatara backfired as the Syli Nationale eliminated his side after a 1-0 victory after Sankhon put the Guinean ahead on the stroke of halftime. Chikatara has scored four out of the five Nigerian goals before the game.

The defeat sees Guinea progress in second place behind Tunisia while Nigeria makes an early and disappointing exit. Tunisia defeated Niger Republic 5-0 to clinch top spot.
