Traditional ruler suspended for drug-related offences

Danladi Ibrahim has been suspended by the Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, for possession of hard drugs. 

This was disclosed by Samuel Aruwan, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Kaduna State Governor. Danladi Ibrahim was village head of Goma in Gimi District of Danga Local Government Area prior to his suspension. 

The traditional ruler was arrested by the State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on allegation of the possession of 1.5kg of India hemp.

The suspension is to begin with immediate effect according to Aruwan.

“On January 20, 2016, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arrested Ibrahim Danladi while he was in possession of 1.5kg of marijuana.

“Danladi is the village head of Goma in the Gimi District of Sanga local government area of the state. He admitted to ownership of the illegal drug, and the NDLEA will be charging him as soon as it concludes investigations.

“The NDLEA subsequently notified the Kaduna State Security Council of the arrest of the traditional ruler. While deliberating on the matter, the Council recommended his suspension from office pending the conclusion of investigations and possible trial. The government accepted the recommendation “, the statement said.
