Robert Downey Jr. Receives Christmas pardon

California state governor, Gov. Jerry Brown, kicked off Robert Downey Jr’s Christmas  in fantastic style when he granted full and unconditional pardon to the actor. The Iron man actor spent time in prison for drug related offenses and was granted a holiday pardon for his drug convictions in the 1990s. 

Downey's had a long list of crime and was arrested multiple times from 1996-2001. He was initially arrested for possession of heroin and cocaine. Soon after, he was picked up again when he broke into a neighbor’s home while intoxicated and on parole. The actor was given probation but soon feel foul of the law again and was jailed in Los Angeles for missing a court-ordered drug test. He missed another drug test in 1999 and was subsequently sentenced to three years in state prison. He was granted early release the following year.

The actor was pardoned along with 90 other people. Most of the pardoned were convicted in the past for minor drug offenses, robbery and burglary.
