Pope Francis on Saturday joined Instagram, with an Instagram handle @franciscus, with 668,000 followers since he joined Instagram.
He joined Twitter three years and has attracted more than 25 million followers in nine languages.
A photo of the Pope praying was posted on his account, on Saturday morning, along with the caption "Pray for me" in nine different languages.
The Pope also tweeted from his @Pontifex account, Francis said he was "beginning a new journey" on the service in order "to walk with you along the path of mercy and the tenderness of God."
