A grand jury has charged Kevin Roper, a Walmart truck driver, who crashed his tractor-trailer into a vehicle carrying the comedian Tracy Morgan and his friends in June 2014. Mr. Morgan was critically critically injured in a crash that claimed the life of James McNair, a comedian and Tracy's friend.
Kevin Roper was charged with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree aggravated assault in the crash.
If found guilty, the accused could spend time behind bars. Aggravated mamslaughter carries a 10 to 30-year prison sentence while a death by auto charge carries a five to ten-year prison sentence.
The crash took place on the New Jersey Turnpike and Tracy Morgan suffered brain injury, broken ribs and a broken leg.
