DPO and 60 others killed in Adamawa attacks

Attacks were carried out by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday in the Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The attack led to the death of Divisional Police Officer of Vunokilang Police Station, Mr Okozie Okereofor along with 60 other villagers.

The gunmen invaded four communities on Sunday early in the morning killing Okereofor and some other policemen including a Chief Superintendent of Police.

The late Divisional Police Officer, Okozie Okereofor, was said to be his way to contain the violence in the distressed communities when he fell into an ambush together with his team. 

The death of the DPO and his team have since been confirmed by Mr. Othman Abubakar, the Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer. The attackers also looted, seized foodstuffs and livestock of the villagers before setting the village ablaze.
