Odion Ighalo wins Premier League player of the month

Nigerian international and Watford striker Odion Ighalo has been named the Premier League’s player of the month for December.

His club manager, Sanchez Flores, also bagged the managerial award to give Watford a double.

Watford have been impressive this season and are currently 10th in the table. They had an impressive December in which they  suffered one defeat, by Tottenham Hotspur, in five games. They beat Norwich City 2-0 and Liverpool 3-0 at home, Sunderland 1-0 away and drawing 2-2 with champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to end an impressive month for Quique Sanchez Flores' men.

Ighalo was also in lethal form scoring five times for the Hornets, with a brace against Liverpool and goals against Norwich, Sunderland and Tottenham.
The Nigeria international will seek to add to his tally of 14 goals this season when Watford travel to fourth-bottom Swansea City on Monday.

Odion Ighalo's direct and impressive form has seen been linked to many clubs in the January transfer window but it appears unlikely that he will leave the newcomers during the current transfer window.
