A philadelphia police officer was repeatedly shot as he sat in his patrol car last night by a 30-year-old man who later pledged his allegiance to ISIS, cops said on Friday.
Edward Archer allegedly fired 13 shots at Officer Jesse Hartnett on Thursday night to show support for the terrorist group, Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark revealed.
“He stated he pledges his allegiance to the Islamic State, that he follows Allah and that is the reason he was called upon to do this,” Clark said.
Philly Police Department is working with the FBI and Homeland Security on the possibly Jihadi-linked case, law enforcement sources said.
He confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam. According to him, he believes that the police defend laws that are contrary to the teaching of the Koran.
The police officer chased the gunman and fired back — but was stuck three times in the left arm and suffered a broken bone and nerve damage, police said.
“Shots fired! … I’m shot! I’m bleeding heavily!” the officer shouted into a police radio, an audio recording reveals.
