Spain Royal family princess goes on trial for fraud

Princess Cristina of Spain has become the first member from a royal family to be put on trial, on fraud charges and being an accomplice in an embezzlement scam, which involves her husband.

If found guilty, she faces up to eight years in jail. The trial is taking place in Palma, Majorca and is seen as a shame for the royal family. 

She arrived at court on the 11th of January, in Palma with her husband, Inaki Urdangarin, who is accused of embezzlement and money laundering. 


Mr. Inakis non-profit organization, Noos Institute sport foundation was allegedly use to inflate contracts from government bodies, before moving the funds to personal accounts. If found guilty, he faces a jail time of 19years.
