Former Sunderland player Adam Johnson found guilty of sex charge

Former England and Sunderland player Adam Johnson, has been found guilty of child sex charge.

The jury at Bradford crown court found Adam guilty of a charge of sexual touching, but not guilty on a charge relating to another sexual act.

The presiding judge, Jonathan Rose, warned that Adam could face a jail term of up to 7years. Adam, should no remorse or emotion as the verdicts were read out to him and had been granted bail until his sentencing, which is due in coming weeks.

He met the 15year-old girl on the 30th of January 2015, after agreeing to sign football shirts for her. He admitted kissing the minor in his Range Rover.

However, the girl told the court that he put his hands down her pants and she performed an oral sex on him.

Sunderland football club has issued a statement saying "had the club known that Mr. Johnson intended to plead guilty to any of these charges, then  his employment would have been terminated immediately."
