Bill Cosby's wife forced to testify in defamation case

Bill Cosby’s wife will be forced to testify in a defamation lawsuit filed by seven women against the embattled comedian. The comedian is accused of sexually assaulting the women.

U.S Judge Magistrate David Hennessey said Camille Cosby has failed to prove that she and her husband were protected by the state’s marital disqualification law. “The arguments do not outweigh the potential significance of Mrs. Cosby’s testimony, nor has Mrs. Cosby provided any authority that they do,” the judge added.

Last month, Joseph Cammarata, a lawyer for the women, had argued that he should be able to question Mrs. Cosby because he believed that she had “information that’s relevant to the litigation in this matter.”

The women claimed Cosby allowed representatives to portray them as liars as they went public with their allegations. Cosby has since filed a countersuit, accusing the women of making false allegations for financial gains.

Cosby was charged last week in Pennsylvania with drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004 inside his home near Philadelphia.

Camille Cosby is also the comedian’s business partner and they have been married for over half a century.
