Four people were killed and several other injured targeted a
police patrol in the eastern city of Jalalabad of Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Afghan security forces also exchanged fire with gunmen who barricaded in a
house near the Pakistan consulate in the city.
It is believed that the bomber tried to join a queue of
people seeking visa to Pakistan and blew himself up after he was not allowed to
enter the building.
Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial governor’s spokesman,
said, “After the suicide attack, gunmen entered an empty house near the
consulate and began firing.
“However, staff at the Pakistani consulate is safe and no
one is hurt. Security forces have surrounded the building.”
The Pakistani consulate is near the Indian consulate, a
hospital and schools. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
