| Tony Anenih has been linked in the diverted arms fund |
Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic
Party, Chief Tony Anenih, has denied collecting any money from Dasuki. The PDP
chief had been named as one of the beneficiary of the diverted $2.1 billion arms fund.
In a letter written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
Chief Anenih said the N260 million traced to his account by the commission was
received from former President Goodluck Jonathan. He added that this was a
refund for political expenses on behalf of the former president.
He stated that the President Goodluck Jonathan only asked
him to submit an account number for the money to be transferred and therefore
was not in a position to know if the money was from the office of the former National
Security Adviser.
Anenih added that part of the money he got was given to
Chief Olu Falae in order to seal a pact with the Social Democratic Party for
the support of the former president’s presidential bid.
