Former Manchester United winger, Andrei Kanchelskis, has attacked Louis Van Gaal saying his former club have got the wrong manager because the Dutch man does not understand English football.
He added, "I don't think that Van Gaal understands English football. A team needs to have leaders like Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Peter Schmeichel, who can give the right things at the necessary moment and can show their leadership qualities."
He questioned the team's style of play under Van Gaal but says now would not be the right time to sack Van Gaal, who has been heavily criticized in the past weeks for United's poor performance and results.
United are winless in six games and were knocked out of a Champions League group they were expected to win. Back to back defeats to Norwich and Bournemouth have clearly not helped the manager's case whose future at the club is subject to intense speculation considering that Jose Mourinho is without a club and Pep Guardiola will be available at the end of the season.
Kanchskis joins a list of old Manchester United players who have criticized the manager this season. He won two league titles under Alex Ferguson.
